Cellulose insulation is highly fire-resistant. It not only withstands fires - it slows their spread to buy vital time for occupants and fire fighters. There are two reasons for this:
- Paper smothers fire like a blanket when in a dense form
- Cellulose Insulation is formulated with natural inorganic salts.
The material we install meets or exceeds the fire protection standards required for timberframe construction and conventional lofts. The video below shows a test conducted by the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. When burned, the cellulose building on test survived 57% longer than an identical structure insulated with fibreglass.
